The 2016-2017 Academic Year calendars are now available in the shop! Many people prefer an academic year calendar to a traditional calendar because their schedules are tied to the school year. Even though we homeschool, we still have dance and sports schedules that fun from August through May or June. I like being able to load up my planner only once a year, usually at the beginning of August, rather than entering dates in August and then more dates into a new calendar in January. But if you like a traditional calendar, my goal is to have those available earlier than I have in the past, so keep your eye out for them.
PumpkinGirl Designs academic year planners have one big change this year, which is purely for ease of use before you print. Until now, the pages have had a portrait orientation which means that when you’re looking at them as a PDF on your computer, they are sideways. It’s not a huge deal, but it makes it awkward if you’re looking to just print a single page. It just happened to be the way I created my first set of printable pages.
Now the pages have a landscape orientation, so they are easier to view on your computer. Also, it saves me a lot of time in creating them! The pages will still print out exactly the same and your printer should default to “auto” orientation in the options screen. If not, just click landscape.
A smaller change this year is that the pages actually include 13 months, July 2016 through July 2017. I’ve had an increasing number of requests to have the planners start in July. By including both July 2016 and July 2017, everyone is happy! Do you like Aug through July? Then you will not need to print the July 2016 pages at all. Does July through June work better for you? Then skip the July 2017. As always, just print the pages you need.

Tip: Download the PDF directly to your computer, save and then print. If you try to print directly from this site, it does funny things to the size.

I can’t believe that Thanksgiving is next week! As I was getting my shopping list together, gathering up all our favorite recipes, it occurred to me that having all our family holiday recipes together in one book would not only be fun, but would save me the frustration of hunting them down every year. I created these simple 4″x6″ recipe cards for myself and decided to share them with all the Pumpkin Girl Designs fans.
This is a 3 page PDF. The first two pages are meant to print back-to-back. If your printer can handle duplex printing, then just follow the instructions that came with your printer. If not, just print page 1, return it to your printer and print page 2 on the back. Then you will have 2 recipe cards with lines on both sides. Use the yellow lines as your cutting guide. Only page 1 has the yellow cutting guides to avoid any issues with alignment that sometimes happens with duplex printing.
Page 3 is a full size recipe page, for those longer recipes.
For best results, please click on the link, then SAVE to your computer. If you try to print this file right from this blog page, weird things tend to happen with the size.
These files are free for personal use. Please do not sell them. If you would like to share, please link to this blog post, not to the file itself. Thank you! And Happy Thanksgiving.

At long last, the 2016 planner pages in my original design are available in my Etsy shop!
I tried out many different planners over the years and in the end, decided to design my own, incorporating all my favorite elements into one pretty and easy to use planner. The weekly pages are centered on the page which means you can punch holes on either side, letting YOU decide which side the calendar page goes and which side the notes page goes. Don’t worry, this is explained in the included printing instructions.
My pages are simple and uncluttered. Use them as is or go crazy decorating them! I use soft, coordinating colors which are easy on your printing cartridges, but still happy and cheerful.
This year I have 2 sizes available, half size (5.5″x8.5″) or full size (8.5″x 11″). They are available as an instant download in my Etsy store. You will then print, cut and punch them yourself. I use 98 bright, 32 pound paper that I got at Staples. This paper will make the colors pop and give a smooth surface to write on.

What do you do when you want to give your friends a Valentine’s Day treat, but you want to keep the sentiment away from all the “Be Mine” stuff? You tell your friends that you think they’re a hoot! I made these little treat bag toppers for Pumpkin Girl to give out to her friends and I’m sharing them here for free!
These toppers will come in a PDF with 4 toppers that will fit 4″ cellophane treat bags. Just print them out on cardstock, trim, then fold.
Tips for printing: Save the PDF to your computer, do not try to print from the website, and make sure your print settings are “Actual Size”, not “fit”.
